It sounds so logical but it is often overlooked. Or you did not prepare yourself or your sub. In pain play, a warm skin can take a lot more pain than a (somewhat) cold skin.

How does that work? Think of goose bumps. Each such bump is a muscle in the skin. When you’re cold, that muscle contracts resulting in a bump and that bump pulls the hair straight up. Imagine having a fur, by doing this you just made your fur nice and thick against the cold or against biting wounds. But humans, like the bald animals we are, do not have a fur. So even when your skin tries really hard, it will still be cold. But all those contracted muscles in the skin do have another effect. They harden the skin. So when you hit or squeeze that hardened skin, then it will hurt more than when it is relaxed and flexible.

So how do you make that skin warm? You can do that in two ways.

Warm the skin from the outside.

An easy one: turn on the heating. Wear warm clothes. But if you’re in your leather underwear during a play party, then this is not an option. Seriously though, when there is an electric heater available, just use it. If not, ask if they can turn on the heating. Wear plenty of warm clothes before you start playing, so that you don’t feel cold from the start.

Warm your skin from the inside.

Your body has its own heater to keep you warm. This heater runs on food and other things. Plenty of food in your belly really helps. Warm drinks like tea and hot chocolate really help as well. And the heater also burns a lot better when you had plenty of sleep.

The skin itself will get warm because of the blood which flows through it. When those blood vessels (hair vessels) are a bit wider, more blood can get through it and this will automatically warm the skin. You can feel and see this as well, the skin turns rose-red. Think about when you’re blushing or think about those nice warm red ears.

You can also make your skin red and warm by giving it a good massage or a light spanking covering the entire body. Not painful, but it feels good. The advantage of this is that not only the skin, but also the muscles and the person itself will be well prepared for a play. You do start with positive and good contact after all.

And hey, who will say no to a good massage? 🙂
